One of My Sparkle Places

One of my Sparkles is drawing and painting. I am no artist but I do enjoy being able to do a little drawing. They, the pictures, always put a smile on my face. Some of my skills are coming back. I really have a long way to go but it puts me in a good place. I hope you enjoy the ones you see here. Sorry , you may be subjected to more in the future. Anyway here is my Bling today.

The first painting is Esmeralda and her friend Edmund is in the making. My next friend is Francine. She is hosting a party in her apartment. Maybe Esmeralda and Edmund will arrive soon.

I hope you enjoy my new friends and will come back every once in a while to see their new friends as they come to life. Sparkle on and show your Bling.

Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat 2011

OMG!!! was that fun or what ? And Tammy and I barely scratched the surface. This event is held in Waxahachie,Texas and well worth the travel time . No way is it a disappointment. The classes were great and the teachers are FABULOUS. We also ran into some friends and you know that is always a cherry on top.

This is a dress made intirely from paper. Coffee filters mostly. Just a little something by one of the instructors.

The first class was a soldering class where we made a beautiful silver rose necklace.I'm getting better at soldering so watch out! I may be soldering everything. It made me a little nervous at first but as soon as I gto my "groove on" it went more smoothly. And I made ROSES!!!

Our very wonderful teacher was Trisha Louise. She can be found at the Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. She is so helpful and hopefully becoming a great friend.  In truth she is an architect and a designer. So we get one smart chic to help us grow as crafters. Aren't we lucky?

Pamela Huntington was our next instructor for this very French  "Jardin de fleurs Collier". A beautiful fabric flower collar or cuff. Oh my! I just love these. The technique is so very simple in theory but takes some practice until comfortable. I was a little bit like a juggler with one arm but after some practice it really is a breeze. You just have to get into your comfort zone and have a good heat gun. Yep -heat gun. Just like the ones at the hardware store used to strip paint. Cheap product plug now---Wagner HT1000. It has two speeds and lightweight. Easy peasy and voila you have fabric flowers. Oh yeh, buy the cheapest fabric you can find. Good huh? Cheapest --that's right. Cheap-Cheap-Cheap! This is what you can make from cheap fabric and a heat gun. Thank you Pamela!

So...I'm thinking these are some pretty nice Bling and Sparkle to add to my collection.

Smeared and Smudged Blog Hop

Howdy! from Texas!  No we really don't greet people with a Howdy. So, I say Hello to everyone. Hope everyone is having a Grand and Glorious time hopping from blog to blog. I'm so very glad you came in to visit me. I can't wait to see all of the other exhibits. The world is truly full of creative people. I hope you enjoy my creation. I call it The Book of The Dead.  And don't forget to take a look at my new friends-Mr.&Mrs.Wee R. Dead.

The Book of the Dead is a paper mache bookbox I sprayed with three colors of Maya Road Mists-Plum Metallic,Cherry Metallic and Licorice Metallic. I was trying to get that old, worn, aged look. The paper lining in the back of the book is from BasicGrey-eerie collection. Prima provided the flowers. The flower on the cover was tinted with Copic Markers. Hanging from the top, inside of the book are dead vines( a black ribbon trim) to which I added Bling. I LOVE me some Bling!!!

Bombshell Stamps provided the Day of The Dead alter skull and the dancing skeleton is from Cherry Pie Art Stamps. From that point on I added feathers, tulle, skulls (from a pirate necklace purchased at a local novelty shop) and most importantly BLING! Did I tell you I love me some Bling? I added it to the front, back, side, inside just about anywhere I could find a spot for Bling I added it. To me there can never -ever be too much Bling. I hope you like my Book of The Dead. I had a marvelous time bringing it all together.

Mr.&Mrs.Wee R. Dead were created from a wedding card holder. I used wire cutters to snip off the card holder clip and replaced it with a skull from my pirate necklace. The bride's dress and veil are from scraps of tulle and Bling. The groom's top hat was made also from scraps from the BasicGrey lining paper- eerie collection. I think they are deadly cute. It is my honor to present, for the first time as husband and wife, .......

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me ( i carry it in
my heart ) i am never without it ( anywhere
i go you go ,my dear, and whatever is done
by only me is your doing ,my darling )
i fear
no fate ( for you are my fate ,my sweet ) i want
no world ( for beautiful you are my world ,my true )
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
( here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide )
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart ( i carry it in my heart )
